Luis Noda, Field Operations, FH Global Executive Office, said, "Food for the Hungry is excited to join with the largest network of Hispanic churches to give thousands of Hispanic Christians a way to transform vulnerable children's lives from hopeless to happy and healthy. Many sponsors find it life-altering to realize their sponsorship enables FH to walk with churches, leaders and families to empower entire communities to overcome poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation."
Food for the Hungry (FH) is a Christian organization serving the poor globally since 1971. They reflect the love of Christ in short-term emergency relief and long-term work to end world hunger.
Dr. Yuri Mantilla, President of the National Latino Evangelical Justice Coalition and Director of Intl. Government Affairs at Focus On The Family, said, "To give effective answers to the issue of poverty is one of the most important tasks of any just society. There are very few organizations, in the world, such as Food for the Hungry, which are effectively addressing both the spiritual and material dimensions of this complex issue. NHCLC is delighted to partner with Food for the Hungry to engage the Latino community in contributing to resolve the problem of poverty based on a comprehensive Christian worldview, which considers the key importance of commitment and action for the transformation of impoverished communities, around the world, into productive places for families to thrive."
Through the Food for the Hungry child sponsorship program, which includes consistent monthly support, letters, and prayers, a relationship is built that ministers to both the child and the sponsor and develops life-changing relationships. The sponsored child's community is impacted at the same time and also experiences lasting change.
Food for the Hungry offers sponsorships for $32 a month (http://fh.org/NHCLCsponsor) that help to prevent children from suffering diseases, dehydration, hunger, abuse and even death—and works to alleviate poverty and lower statistics that reveal 1.4 billion people living in poverty.
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the NHCLC, said, "Our partnership with Food For the Hungry represents a mutually affirmed commitment to reconcile the vertical and horizontal of the Christian message through the FH child sponsorship and our work to alleviate poverty."
