With overwhelming community support, NHLI announced in early February plans to launch ALL IN, an innovative leadership program for emerging Latinas to address the scarcity of leaders of color in the nonprofit sector.
"American Express has a longstanding commitment to the development of future leaders in the non-profit sector," said Timothy J. McClimon, President of the American Express Foundation. "Supporting the National Hispana Leadership Institute is one way that we help ensure the continuance of diverse, high-quality non-profit leadership for generations to come."
Through ALL IN's training approach coupled with mentoring and hands-on experience, professional Latinas between 24-34 years of age working in the nonprofit sector will develop their leadership and management skills, find their voice as effective community leaders, build their external networks, and have access to an extensive pool of role models and mentors.
The program will consist of a one-week residential program in partnership with Georgetown University's Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership in Washington, D.C. from July 30 to August 6; a series of webinars after completion of the D.C. program; and a nonprofit management track/workshops at NHLI's Executive Leadership Training Conference and Mujer Awards held in Miami, FL in November.
Applications will be accepted online until Friday, April 30, 2010. To learn about eligibility, more information and to apply online, visit www.nhli.org.
In addition to learning how to be high-impact, high-performing nonprofit leaders, fellows will gain insight into public policy issues affecting the Latino community; meet other outstanding and diverse Latina leaders from across the country to become part of a powerful national network; and apply the skills, strategies, and tools provided to address an organizational need/challenge through their leadership project.
ALL IN fellows will earn a certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Georgetown University Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership.
Selection of ALL IN participants from across the country will be based on a competitive process that takes into account applicant's skills and attributes, accomplishments, life and career goals, and leadership potential. Accepted applicants will be notified in early June.
To ensure that ALL IN has impact beyond the 22 participants, the program will include mentoring and leadership project components. With each fellow mentoring at least two other young Latinas, an additional 44 young Latinas will be directly impacted by the program every year, in addition to the hundreds more that will benefit from the leadership projects in communities across the country.
For more information on the ALL IN program visit www.nhli.org or contact Evelyn Garcia Morales, Program Manager, at [email protected].
