The National Headache Foundation Celebrates Its 45th Anniversary

CHICAGO, April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Headache Foundation (NHF), a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1970 and has pioneered the way headaches have been diagnosed and treated, will host its 29^th annual fundraiser – The Gatsby Gala – Inspiring Hope for 45 Years, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Ritz Carlton Chicago. The Executive Chairman and Founder of the Foundation is world-renowned headache authority, Dr. Seymour Diamond, who will also be celebrating his 90^th birthday. Margaret Emery Azarian, Ph.D. awarded the Elaine Diamond Service Award of the National Headache Foundation.

On that evening, The 2015 Elaine Diamond Service Award will be presented to Margaret Emery Azarian, Ph.D. in recognition of her excellent and enduring service to the National Headache Foundation. The award acknowledges the enduring support and commitment of long-time Board member, Elaine Diamond.

Doctor Margaret Emery Azarian received her A.B. in chemistry, cum laude with honors, at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, and continued postgraduate courses at Yale University, earning an M. Sc. and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. She served as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, Institute for the Structure of Matter.

At the Franklin Institute Research Laboratories, in Philadelphia, Dr. Azarian served as a Senior Research Chemist. Other professional experience includes the Schering Corporation, Bloomfield, New Jersey as a Senior Scientist, and at Hoffman-La Roche, Inc., Nutley, New Jersey, as a Technical Fellow. Eventually, she became Editor-in-Chief of International Universities Press, Inc., in New York City, and later Madison, Connecticut. At IUP, she was responsible for the content and quality of books in psychoanalysis, psychology, and psychiatry that were published for the mental health professional, and oversaw production of the journal, Headache Quarterly.

Dr. Azarian was elected to the National Headache Foundation Board in 2003, and assumed the role of Secretary in 2005. She has given much time and effort to the review of the quarterly magazine, HeadWise, and was instrumental in the establishment of the monthly chat rooms which are available on our website, http://bit.ly/nhf-gatsby-gala.
