The National Basketball Coaches Association and Joseph Abboud Team Up to Give Back
NBA Coaches Help Raise Awareness and Lend Support to the Men's Wearhouse National Suit Drive
FREMONT, Calif., July 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) announced today that it will expand upon its partnership with Joseph Abboud, the Official Wardrobe Supplier of the NBCA's 2013-14 season, by helping to raise awareness for the annual Men's Wearhouse National Suit Drive. Now in its seventh year, the National Suit Drive is a month-long initiative that encourages donations of gently-used suits and professional attire, for distribution to over 180 local nonprofit organizations that provide job-ready skills and training to men who are re-entering the workforce.
To further assist in the effort taking place throughout the month of July, NBA Coaches, such as Rick Carlisle (Dallas Mavericks), Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics), Terry Stotts (Portland Trailblazers), Dwane Casey (Toronto Raptors) and Monty Williams (New Orleans) have committed to donating suits of their own and posting messages about the program to their social networks to help spread the word and inspire donations.
"We've partnered with Joseph Abboud for the last five years to outfit the coaches on the court and we know how empowering it is to put on a great-looking suit so we are more than happy to support the National Suit Drive to help others experience that feeling," said Dallas Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle. "Looking the part is the first step in communicating confidence and poise. Our Coach members want to help spread the word that there are resources out there to help men get back into the workforce and we invite NBA fans and others to help show their support for this important program. "
Over the past six years, the Men's Wearhouse National Suit Drive has collected over 650,000 professional clothing donations to support unemployed individuals seeking to re-enter the workforce. Consumers across the nation can donate their gently-used clothing, including men's and women's suits, ties, jackets, shirts, pants, belts and shoes, to any of the over 900 Men's Wearhouse locations. As a further incentive, donors will also receive 50 percent off their next purchase from Men's Wearhouse (excluding shoes, clearance and Exceptional Value items).
Beyond giving a donation, consumers can participate in the Suit Drive by sharing personal suit stories and images with the hashtag: #giveasuit. In addition, Men's Wearhouse will donate a dollar (up to $20,000) to the local non-profit organizations it partners with if consumers do any of the following:
- Follow @MensWearhouse on Twitter or Instagram
- Tweet #giveasuit
- Share or upload a photo of a clothing donation with #giveasuit
