The devices will be used by the hospital's respiratory care staff to monitor the breathing of patients at locations throughout the hospital such as the cardiac catheterization laboratory, the emergency room and the respiratory therapy department. The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,171-bed, tertiary-care teaching facility acclaimed internationally for excellence in clinical care.

Capnography is a non-invasive monitoring technique that measures the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in a patient's exhaled air. Several professional medical societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Heart Association, recommend the use of capnography to monitor patients who receive moderate to deep sedation during medical procedures and during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
