The Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation Joins With The United States Lifesaving Association To Promote Awareness
GARDEN CITY, N.Y., July 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Lifesaving Association is a non-profit professional organization of over 14,000 members involved in lifeguarding and open water rescue. They have partnered with our foundation to provide information and services on skin cancer. The USLA will use "The Dark Side of the Sun", the educational DVD created and produced by Mollie's Fund with the support of MCS Advertising, to teach their members the necessity of sun protection in combatting melanoma. The Town of Hempstead currently uses this film as a segment of their in-house training for national certification. The USLA supports school beach safety educational programs and this film will be available for these initiatives.
The USLA works to reduce the incidence of death and injury in the aquatic environment through public education, national lifeguard standards, training programs, and other means. B. Chris Brewster, President, explained: "The US Lifesaving Association welcomes the opportunity to partner in this effort. The primary goal of a lifeguard is prevention of injury. Just as we recommend to our members, we recommend EVERYONE cover-up and PROTECT themselves." Mollie's Fund looks forward to our partnership which enables us to expand our message of sun safety to the lifesaving and swimming community.
