LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As 2016 draws to a close, Mindshare's West Coast region caps off a second consecutive year of accelerated growth. In the last two years alone, the staff in the Los Angeles office has grown 33 percent, including a fourfold expansion of the analytics team. The agency even moved into a new office last year to accommodate its growth—right in the Silicon Beach area, the hub of LA's tech and startup community.
Building on that office's evolution, Mindshare North America also launched an office in San Francisco recently to harness the speed and culture of Silicon Valley partners, technologies, and platforms. With thousands of start-up companies in their backyard, the San Francisco team is already leveraging new technologies and partners in their growing client base.
The growth also means top West Coast talent. Cheryl Idell joined as West Coast Lead in July, coming from Nielsen. The momentum continued this fall when the LA office brought on two new media powerhouses: Eric Geiger, who joined from Horizon Media, as Executive Director to lead the agency's work with Lionsgate, and Scott Wensman, who joined from Team One, as Managing Director to oversee other LA clients such as Nordstrom, Campari, Nature Made, ARCO, and more.
West Coast Wins
Mindshare NA's West Coast growth also comes hand in hand with a number of top industry accolades for its work and leadership. Just this month, Cynopsis Digital honored Emma Witkowski, Managing Partner, Digital Investment Lead, West Coast, as one of the winners on their inaugural Digital "It List." The Digital "It List" honors the most innovative executives in digital media—leaders who are actively shaping the industry.
In addition, Idell was recently named one of Adweek's inaugural L.A. Media Stars, a list honoring the best and brightest media agency leaders across Southern California. And, earlier this year, LA's Autumn Nazarian, SVP, Mindshare Spotlight—Mindshare NA's dedicated sports and entertainment partnerships unit—was recognized at the Cynopsis Sports Media Awards.
These honors follow several other recent wins from Adweek for LA; the team's extremely successful social responsibility campaign with Campari and Lyft won two Adweek Media Plan of the Year awards, and the Mobile category at Adweek's Project Isaac Awards, on top of being shortlisted at Cannes Lions. In addition, Mindshare's LA office was also recognized as one of the finalists for Agency of the Year in thinkLA's 2016 IDEA Awards.
Reshaping the LA Media Landscape
As Mindshare's West Coast continues to grow, the agency is finding new ways to disrupt and reshape media across the region. Last week, Mindshare's LA office hosted its second annual #Future33 event, bringing together 33 West Coast partners who push the boundaries within digital to create customized opportunities for Mindshare NA clients. Partners at this year's event ranged from BuzzFeed to Snapchat to Vice and more. And last year's event resulted in media campaign firsts with Spotify and other digital leaders.
This too comes on the heels of another big event in LA—Mindshare NA recently held its first-ever West Coast Mindshare Huddle, an 'unconference' that brought together advanced tech demos, live music, and presentations from artists, chefs, industry luminaries, and more. See the sizzle reel here. Mindshare Huddles are regularly held across North America and worldwide.
Mindshare's LA office has also played an active role in the community through volunteer work and philanthropy. For example, in June, the agency hosted over 250 people for thinkLA's 5K event, which helped raise over $9,000 for volunteer organization Ad Relief. The agency has also supported initiatives for the American Heart Association, Hope Pick Up, LA Regional Food Bank, and more.
