SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Starting the 2015/16 fiscal year with a boom, The Mars Agency is proud to announce the promotion of Rob Rivenburgh from Chief Operating Officer to Chief Executive Officer, North America. For 43 years the agency has operated under one Global CEO, and the addition of CEO, North America marks the beginning of the next great era for one of the world's largest, independent shopper marketing agencies and a proven industry leader.
"As an agency we first met Rob when he was serving as the Marketing Director for Nestle in the nineties and was a client of ours," said Global CEO Ken Barnett. "My team and I knew then that we had met an extraordinary talent and it was only a matter of time before we were able to bring him on as one of our own; to be able to promote him now to CEO has exceeded my expectations."
Recruited from his role as Marketing Director for Diageo, Rivenburgh joined The Mars Agency family in 2002, tasked with building and leading the agency's Retail Marketing Group. Today that group is integrated into almost all client engagements, with a team of over 20 retail channel experts. In 2004, Rivenburgh was entrusted to open our Bentonville, Ark. office and to build and manage a full agency team. Having demonstrated the ability to establish and lead initiatives that create a lasting impact for employees and clients alike, Rivenburgh gladly accepted the opportunity to move to Michigan and take on the role of COO in 2009. His contribution included leading the vision, culture and operations for the agency.
"To say Rob is well-respected by everyone who has the opportunity to work with him is an understatement," continued Barnett. "It's rare to find such a combination of expertise, passion and willingness to lift others as well as make them better professionals. I can't imagine a better leader at the helm as we embark on the next 40 years of industry-leading work."
As a result of continued North American expansion with some of the industry's largest Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 brands, the new fiscal year is the perfect time for Rivenburgh to take control of North American leadership, while Barnett continues to expand The Mars Agency's international footprint as Global CEO.
Coming off the heels of an impressive year touting the addition of 85 new employees, and a 30 percent growth in revenue over the last five years, in his new role Rivenburgh will focus on The Mars Agency's 10 North American offices and their expanding client needs, in an effort to continue the company's healthy growth trajectory.
