The Makers of Nestle® Pure Life® Purified Water Donate Water to Texas Youth Football and Cheer League to Encourage Healthy Hydration
STAMFORD, Conn., Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In Texas, football and those Friday night lights are true to people's hearts – but the importance of hydration may not always be top of mind. Representatives from Nestle® Pure Life® recently visited a local Texas youth and football cheer practice to help inspire the coaches and parents to make healthy choices for their families and join the Nestle Pure Life Hydration Movement. To encourage the kids to drink water and stay hydrated during practice, Nestle Pure Life donated more than 12,000 bottles of water to the League.

"It's extremely important for them to stay hydrated," said Chanda, parent and League President, about her players. "We start football in late July, when the temperatures in Texas can be upwards of 105 degrees."
A recent study showed that 64 percent of school-aged children were dehydrated before they left for school.[1] Parents can help their kids learn healthy hydration by encouraging them to grab for water instead of sugared beverages. To maintain proper hydration, kids need to get into the habit of drinking water throughout the day, and this is especially necessary during exercise.
"Whatever sport you play, physical activity makes your body lose water. So it's really important to make sure you drink water before, during and after exercise," said Maude Ancone, Brand Manager of Nestle Pure Life. While not part of the usual Hydration Movement program, Nestle Pure Life surprised the league with a donation of Nestle Pure Life bottled water to help inspire them to stay hydrated all season long and make a healthy change.
For the past two years, Nestle Pure Life has asked families to make a pledge to swap one 12 ounce sugared beverage with water every day for a year. To date, more than 124,000 families have participated, and this simple step has helped to eliminate billions of calories from families' diets in the U.S.[2] The small effort from parents to join the Hydration Movement can make a big impact towards helping their families maintain a healthier lifestyle.
