The Luminaires Juniors Apply Innovative Approach to Raising Research Dollars
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Friday, September 8, The Luminaires Juniors will hold a unique fundraising event to support vision research at Doheny Eye Institute. The event will be held at The Lantern House, a local landmark of quirky beach cottages with an extensive and eclectic art collection in Venice, California.
Formed in 1976, The Luminaires Juniors are a fundraising support group that makes philanthropic contributions to Doheny Eye Institute. The Luminaires Juniors have made significant contributions to Doheny by leveraging their time, networks and resources to raise funds and recruit new supporters.
"The Luminaires Juniors are an integral part of Doheny's community," says Christopher Clinton Conway, Chief of Development and Public Affairs at Doheny. "The women in the group have a history of generosity, but most importantly, they spread the message about our important work with the community and help maintain a pipeline of new volunteers and donors to support Doheny," said Mr. Conway.
"Doheny makes a huge impact, not only here in Los Angeles, but through its vision research programs," says event chair Stacey Henning. "We are proud to support Doheny and feel empowered by Carrie Estelle Doheny's example of women making a positive change in Los Angeles."
This week's fall fundraiser will have a full hosted bar courtesy of Scott Mayers, owner of The Lantern House, and hors d'oeuvres, by local hotspot, Gjelina. Los Angeles based hypnotist and mentalist, Brandon Queen, will be the special guest for the evening.
