The Los Angeles Film School Recognizes Alumni Involvement On Six Oscar-Nominated Films Ahead Of The 91st Annual Academy Awards
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Ahead of the 91st Annual Academy Awards, The Los Angeles Film School is recognizing and congratulating eight of its film program graduates who worked across six Oscar-nominated films, including "Black Panther," "BlackkKlansman," "Can You Ever Forgive Me?," If Beale Street Could Talk," "First Man," and "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs."

The Oscars, which have no host for the first time in the awards history, will air live on Sunday, February 24, at 5 p.m. PT on ABC. This year, The Los Angeles Film School is proud to share the involvement of eight graduates that worked on the following Oscar-winning and nominated films:
- Black Panther: Austin Harris, aerial camera operator; Cody Preston Troxell, drone safety technician; and Christian Salavador, roto paint crew member, worked on the Oscar-nominated film, which is up for seven awards: Best Picture, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, Best Original Song, and Best Production Design.
- BlackkKlansman: Alec Nickel worked in the camera department for the film, which is nominated for six awards, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing.
- Can You Ever Forgive Me?: Brandon Trost was the director of photography in the dramatic biopic, nominated for three awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay.
- If Beale Street Could Talk: Joshua Bramer was the property master – additional photography for the Oscar-nominated film, which is nominated for three awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score.
- First Man: Erik Osusky was supervising art director for the science-fiction film, nominated for four awards: Best Production Design, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound Editing.
- The Ballad of Buster Scruggs: Adam Mull, set designer, worked on the musical comedy, which is nominated for three awards: Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song, and Best Costume Design.
"When I got the call to work on 'Black Panther,' I immediately knew that I was about to be a part of something big," said Cody Preston Troxell, Los Angeles Film School film program alumnus, 2009. "When I heard it was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture, it was hard to say I was surprised. The cast and crew were top-notch, and I think we came up with something quite amazing."
Troxell joins a long list of talented Los Angeles Film School graduates that have had the opportunity to work on award nominated/winning projects across all aspects of the entertainment industry, including film, music, television, and more.
