The Lights Go Out in Las Vegas for Earth Hour 2012
LAS VEGAS, March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Las Vegas will once again show support for the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour by shutting off non-essential exterior lighting and marquees from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, March 31.
Participating in this visual display of support on the Strip will be, from north to south, Circus Circus, Encore Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas, Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, The Palazzo Las Vegas, The Venetian Las Vegas, The Mirage, Harrah's Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Imperial Palace Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas, Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon, Bally's Las Vegas, Bellagio, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Aria, Vdara, Monte Carlo, New York New York, MGM Grand, Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Off the Strip participants include The Orleans Hotel & Casino, Gold Coast, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Suncoast, Sam's Town, LVH, Jokers Wild and Eldorado. On Fremont Street, Main Street Station, the California and Fremont will be participating.
Earth Hour is the largest environmental event in history, created by the World Wildlife Fund where millions of people and businesses turn off their lights for one hour, sending a powerful message for action on climate change. Originally started in 2007 by WWF-Australia, the event has grown to include 135 countries in 2011.
