The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training® Teams Up with Spartan Obstacle Racing
Exclusive Training Program Created for TNT by Spartan Race Founder Joe DeSena
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., March 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training® (TNT) and Spartan Race™ obstacle races are teaming up to bring participants a challenging and unforgettable experience and a great training program to help them prepare for their event.
Spartan Race, the leader in obstacle racing, offers participants the opportunity to test their resilience, strength and stamina with a choice of three different course levels. And now Spartan Race Founder Joe DeSena and his team have created an online training program exclusively for TNT, the leader in endurance sports charity training, to prepare participants for the mud running, insane obstacles and sheer physical and mental challenge. While they train, participants will raise funds to support lifesaving cancer research. Participants can also earn cool incentives!
Participants can chose the Spartan Sprint 5K – a muddy 3-plus mile event with ten or more obstacles; the Super Spartan, a 13K obstacle course providing an 8-plus mile battlefield of mud running with at least 15 obstacles to test their strength and mental resolve; or the Spartan Beast, a 16K course with 16 or more obstacles.
DeSena is eager to bring his experience, vision and talent for pushing physical boundaries to the TNT athlete. After making his mark on Wall Street, DeSena moved his family to Vermont to get back to basics. He took his passion for endurance sports and created The Death Race in which racers wouldn't know what to expect. Inspired by the spirit of The Death Race, DeSena and his team created Spartan races, which are designed to test, challenge and motivate those who take them on, but are modified enough to make them accessible to a wider racing audience.
"Obstacle races are incredibly popular and LLS is excited about this new partnership with Spartan Race, who is unsurpassed in the field," said Nancy L. Klein, LLS chief marketing and revenue officer. "Now TNT participants can take on these exhilarating races and benefit from TNT's training expertise while helping to save lives. It's a winning combination."
