The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night Walk Celebrates Top Fundraising Bay Area Walgreens Store
San Francisco Walgreens Earns Prestigious Honor for a Second Year
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Greater Bay Area Chapter has celebrated Walgreens store number 890, located at 135 Powell Street, San Francisco, Calif., for being the top fundraising Bay Area store during the 2015 Light The Night® Walk campaign for the second year running. This store raised $1,963.17 by selling Light The Night paper icons from September 1 – 14, 2015, in support of the 2015 Light The Night Walks.
On December 16, 2015, members of the Light The Night campaign hosted a celebration event at the winning Walgreens store, which included a pizza party for employees, an awards ceremony and LLS giveaways for Walgreens staff and customers. During the ceremony, store manager Michael Joseph presented LLS with an honorary check for the total amount his store raised. As a symbol of appreciation and gratitude, LLS staff presented Joseph with artwork created by a blood cancer survivor.
The Powell Street Walgreens, store number 890, is member of the 57th district Market 11 territory led by district manager Dave Devencenzi. The territory includes all of Northern California and in 2015, raised a total of $108,016.13 selling Light The Night paper icons during the two-week fundraising period in September. The Light The Night paper icons were sold in participating Walgreens locations in the United States for $1.00 each and featured pictures of young blood cancer patients from across the country.
