The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) Complete Fundraising Mission
Fundraising Campaign Raised Over a Quarter of a Million Dollars for Blood Cancer Research
SAN FRANCISCO, June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and The California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) are proud to announce the completion of the CH&LA Fundraising Mission, an unprecedented effort to collectively raise funds to support vital research for a cure for blood cancers. The CH&LA Fundraising Mission, which launched in February 2015, raised over $270,000 to benefit LLS, blood cancer patients and their families throughout California.
The money raised through the CH&LA Fundraising Mission is going towards blood cancer research and supporting local blood cancer patients through education programs and aid services like the Co-Pay Assistance Program, which helps patients pay their insurance premiums, meet co-pay obligations and more. Programs like the CH&LA Fundraising Mission help LLS play an important role in the discovery and development of treatments for blood cancers. In 2013 alone, LLS funded almost $74 million in research and in 2014 in the state of California, LLS funded $31.7 million in research, patient services and advocacy.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society extends its gratitude, appreciation and thanks to the hotels that participated, The California Hotel & Lodging Association and Tom Klein, the Fairmont San Francisco General Manager and Regional Vice-President, and CH&LA Board Member who led the campaign. The CH&LA Fundraising Mission has made a big impact on LLS's work with patients, doctors, researchers and policymakers in California.
