The Leonardo Begins Social Entrepreneurship Competition: Mind Riot
Mind Riot is a social entrepreneurship competition for high school students in Utah
SALT LAKE CITY, June 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, The Leonardo is announcing the beginning of their fourth annual high school entrepreneurship competition, Mind Riot. This three-day social event brings high school students from across the state of Utah together to solve real social problems and win cash prizes. With the help of our expert mentors in the fields of science, technology and entrepreneurship, students will create and present solutions to a panelist of judges in true "SHARK TANK" fashion.
Mind Riot offers high school students the opportunity to compete in a social entrepreneurship competition and solve real world problems. By working closely with adult mentors, students learn how to creatively problem solve and identify solutions to challenges. Mind Riot is positioned as a launching pad for students to gain insight and experience in industries such as business, technology, science, and entrepreneurship.
"Days one and two are all about identifying and scalable solutions to problems just like any good entrepreneur would," said Kathryn Smith, Development Director at The Leonardo. "Watching these students collaborate and use their innovative style to tackle these challenges is very inspiring."
On the last day of competition, students will present their solutions to a panel of judges. Judges look at four major criteria; innovation (the idea), impact (the idea's potential), implementation (how the idea will happen) and presentation. Winners will win cash prizes and the opportunity to take their solutions to market.
This is the fourth year that The Leonardo has hosted Mind Riot. Partners for this competition include Sustainable Startups, Zions Bank and Ancestry.com.
