The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust Donates $3 Million to Haitian Relief Efforts
NEW YORK, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust announced its approval of donations totaling $3 million -- $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, $1 million to Oxfam, and $1 million to Partners in Health -- to support the work of these organizations in providing medical care, food, and other urgent necessities to the victims in Haiti.
"After seeing the devastation in Haiti and the suffering of its people, we are committed to helping immediately," the trustees stated. "These organizations have a long-standing history working in Haiti and are renowned for the essential resources they provide for the region."
All three of the Trust's grants are specifically ear-marked to support relief efforts in connection with the present crisis.

The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, established in 1999, is administered by five trustees selected by Leona Helmsley as a continuation of Mr. and Mrs. Helmsley's generous giving through their lifetimes.
