The Law Firm of Gwilliam Ivary Contributes $10,000 to Alameda County Law Library

"We recognize and greatly value the access to justice role played by the Alameda County Law Library. Funding shortfalls have resulted in the need to reduce library hours. This makes it harder than ever for the public to have free access to the basic legal resources available through the Law Library," said Gary Gwilliam, Esq. of Gwilliam Ivary Chiosso Cavalli & Brewer.

"As leaders in the legal community, we understand that the Alameda County Law Library is an important community resource giving the public access to free legal books and databases. The Law Library directs those who request legal assistance to the lawyer referral service of the Alameda County Bar Association," said Randall E. We are excited and pleased that the Gwilliam firm has stepped up to take this leadership role within the legal community to help fund the restoration of the Law Library's evening and weekend hours. No tax dollars are used to support the Law Library and our major source of funding, a small portion of civil filing fees, has dropped dramatically over the past 5 years. The typical user at the Law Library is a non-attorney trying to solve their own legal problem. When we restore hours, we will be able to provide more Alameda County residents meaningful access to legal information so essential to access to justice," said Mark E. Estes, Law Library Director.
