The Land Report Announces Top Land Deals
Magazine of the American Landowner unveils 2013 Deal of the Year, spotlights top Agriculture, Timber, Conservation, and Ranchland transactions
DALLAS, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In The Land Report's spring issue, the award-winning publication unveils the nation's leading land deals for 2013, transactions that involved nationally known landmarks, Hollywood luminaries, and a Super Bowl champion.

The 2013 Land Deal Report of the Year Award, presented by American Timberland Company, recognizes the $21 million donation of the Natural Bridge of Virginia, one of the Seven Wonders of the New World. Jim Woltz of Woltz & Associates represented Angelo Puglisi in this multi-layered transaction, which also involved Joe Elton at Virginia State Parks and Tom Clarke at Kissito's Virginia Conservation Legacy Fund.
The 2013 Timberland Deal of the Year features a $1 billion dollar sale of more than 500,000 acres of timberlands and other assets in five Southern states by MeadWestvaco to Plum Creek Timber Company. The 2013 Timberland Deal of the Year is sponsored by the Forest Landowners Association.
The 2013 Agriculture Deal of the Year, sponsored by People's Company, was awarded to the Hager Farm & Ranch Auction, a $50 million event involving 54 productive tracts of Kansas farm and ranchlands overseen by Scott Shuman at Hall & Hall Auctions.
The 2013 Ranchland Deal of the Year, presented by Stoa Management, was awarded to Camp Warren Oates, a 418-acre property near Yellowstone National Park with long ties to Hollywood. Tracy Raich of Raich Montana Properties represented the seller, actor Dennis Quaid, who acquired the property from Hollywood legends Sam Peckinpah and Warren Oates. Ryan Flair of Fay Ranches represented the buyer, David Couch.
The sale of the historic 2,066-acre Trees Ranch in Utah received the 2013 Conservation Land Deal of the Year, sponsored by National Valuation Consultants. Microsoft cofounder and Seattle Seahawks owner Paul Allen acquired this vital holding adjacent to Zion National Park and the Canaan Mountain Wilderness from the heirs of Jim Trees and Lionel Pincus. Ken Mirr of Mirr Ranch Group represented the Seller.
