The Labrador Retriever Reigns Supreme Once Again In Denver
Nationally, Labrador Retriever Remains America's Most Popular
NEW YORK, March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Labrador Retriever, once again, claims Denver's top spot in the American Kennel Club's (AKC®) 2018 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.
The Labrador Retriever was also recognized as the #1 pup in Dallas, Nashville, and Cleveland.
The Australian Shepherd broke into the top ten after placing 15th in 2017. German Shorthaired Pointers moved up in popularity as well, taking the 6th spot. Last year, they rounded out the top ten.
"It's easy to see why the Labrador Retriever continues to be the city's favorite breed," said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. "They're friendly, upbeat, and have enough energy and affection for a whole family."
