The Labrador Retriever Reigns Supreme As Atlanta's Most Popular Breed Once Again
Nationally, Labrador Retriever Remains America's Most Popular
NEW YORK, March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- This year, the Labrador Retriever once again took Atlanta's number one spot in the American Kennel Club's (AKC®) 2018 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.
The Labrador Retriever was also recognized as the #1 pup in Chicago, Dallas, and Raleigh.
The Labrador Retriever secured the number one spot for yet another year in a row. The Bulldog, which held the fifth spot last year, dropped to number eight, while the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel replaced it in fifth place.
"Atlanta's favorite breeds haven't shifted much in rankings since last year," said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. "However, it's fascinating to see that the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was able to paw its way into fifth place, knocking down the Bulldog a few spots."
