OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The KPA Group announces the October completion of the rebuild project at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care Campus. The project was initiated by the Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) to extend increased hospitality to veterans visiting the main hospital. The rebuild included the remodel and conversion of a vending and coffee service area in the Canteen Coffee Shop. The conversion also included an existing office and the renovation of an onsite bank.

Adding to the experience of visitors the Palo Alto project is designed to provide a warm and inviting place for veterans and their families. While receiving care at the VA Palo Alto all involved hope to provide what's been described as an "oasis within the medical center and a place to relax and feel at home." Imperative to the design, the VCS asked The KPA Group to design an atmosphere with an emphasis on delicious, freshly-prepared foods that are served at reasonable prices delivered with very intentional hospitality.
To that end Paul Powers, principal at The KPA Group and his team began the process of delivering a relaxing customer experience. Comfortable seating options have been added to a new lounge and coffee shop seating area. Keeping every veteran's experience top of mind, Wi-Fi has also been added to the hospitality areas. For added convenience all around, the coffee shop will also have a new preparation room, storage area and retail counter for increased customer service.
Paul Powers said of the successful rebuild, "This renovation will give the Canteen Cafe a modern, fresh appearance and will greatly improve the experience of the veterans, their families, and the hospital staff who serve them daily. We're honored to put our expertise behind such a valuable project. We're doing all we can to make their time in the hospital more comfortable, more like home."
A 27-year veteran in the architectural and engineering fields The KPA Group has a portfolio that includes approximately 2 billion dollars in completed projects. Half of the projects were completed under a design-build delivery agreement. Their experience includes both historic retrofits and new building development.
