The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington Appreciates Support for Israel within Virginia State Legislature, Requests Bipartisan Compromise

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington (JCRC) is thankful for the long lasting widespread and bipartisan legislative support for the State of Israel within the Virginia General Assembly. We appreciate all pro-Israel efforts; however, we are concerned that House Joint Resolution 659 in particular has become politically divisive. The true strength of the U.S. - Israel relationship is in its bipartisan nature.

We suggest that the Virginia General Assembly table efforts to pass HJ 659 this year and use the time before the next legislative session to develop a resolution that would enjoy widespread bipartisan and community support. The JCRC would be pleased to support such a resolution.

We must all work together to ensure the safety, well-being, and prosperity of the State of Israel.
