The Jenzabar Foundation and Campus Compact Announce Partnership to Foster Student Service
Partnered Organizations Will Conduct Three Service Leadership Conferences in 2010
BOSTON, March 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jenzabar Foundation and Campus Compact announced today a bold new partnership. Together, the organizations will aim to expand their outreach and support to student groups and other organizations and individuals involved in innovative service activities helping others. The partnered organizations will administer regional service conferences to promote civic engagement and inspire future generations to make a positive difference.
As a public charity, The Jenzabar Foundation recognizes and funds the good works and humanitarian efforts of student leaders serving others across the global community. Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents representing some 6 million students, dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement, and service-learning in higher education. Through their partnership, The Jenzabar Foundation and Campus Compact will help students involved in service reach their highest potential and make the greatest impact during their collegiate experience.
"The value of student service activities is increasingly recognized by higher education institutions, the workforce, and the government, particularly during this challenging economic time," said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., Chairman of the Jenzabar Foundation. "Service work builds a strong connection between students and their institutions, and puts students at an advantage as they head into the workforce. Campus Compact is a natural partner for us as we continue to support students who are pursuing their passion to create a better world."
The Jenzabar Foundation and Campus Compact are collaborating to conduct three regional student leadership conferences where students will network and share information about best practices in student philanthropy, humanitarian work, and community service. Building upon students' interests within service, these conferences will engage them in a number of activities, from volunteer work and community outreach programs, to service-learning and social entrepreneurship. Conference attendees will be selected through an application process that leverages both The Jenzabar Foundation's and Campus Compact's student networks.
Campus Compact President, Maureen B. Curley, adds, "We are delighted to have found such a committed partner in The Jenzabar Foundation. Helping young adults to maximize their service-learning and set them out on a path of civic engagement for life—while they are in college—is at the very heart of all that we do. We have high expectations for these student leadership conferences."
