JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga., June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- 2012 is a historic year to remember for the Jekyll Island Club Hotel on Jekyll Island, Georgia, as the renowned Four-Star Resort celebrates two historic milestones: the 125th Anniversary of the Jekyll Island Club, and the 25th Anniversary of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.

The Jekyll Island Club was originally built in 1886 as a winter retreat for America's wealthy elite. Restored to its original splendor in 1986 and now a National Historic Landmark and a member of Historic Hotels of America, The Jekyll Island Club Hotel, in the heart of Jekyll Island's historic district, presents 157 rooms and suites in five historical settings. Beaches, golf, dining and recreation are part of the Hotel's guest experience, with kayaking, dolphin tours, tennis and horseback riding available on the Island.

In celebrating its history, the Hotel created a year-long calendar of special events, discounts and guest promotions that began in January and will carry though 2012.
