The IU-UNC LogMBA Program Announces 2015 Graduates
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., May 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The IU-UNC LogMBA (www.IU-UNClogMBA.org) program recognized its ninth class of graduates on April 30, 2015 at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. RADM Erroll M. Brown, USCG (Retired), delivered the commencement address for the ceremony and acknowledged the critical leadership graduates will provide in our complex, data-driven world.
"Globally, we have become increasingly more interconnected and, as a result, more interdependent. Because of their immense scale and critical dependency, we struggle to understand, influence, and control the massive supply chains of today. In our effort to make sense of this complex system, we use data to describe, predict, and in some cases control this intricately complex global system. But even in today's data-drenched world, there are many times when data is not enough." Brown, an IDB Executive Fellow Emeritus, noted, "Today's leaders must learn to recognize situations that exceed the limits of data and act knowledgeably and decisively to effect change."
The graduates earned a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and a Certificate in either Global Supply Chain Leadership or Global Strategic Management and Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School. The Institute for Defense and Business (IDB - www.IDB.org) manages the program.
"The LogMBA program is significantly demanding and challenging and I am particularly impressed with how well this year's graduates were able to balance the demands of the program with both their personal and professional lives. They should be justifiably proud of their accomplishment because it has not been an easy road and they have endured many sacrifices over the past two years. They're a special group whose discipline, hard work, and untiring efforts have paid dividends!" said MG James L. Hodge, USA (Retired), President of the IDB.
The IU-UNC LogMBA is a two-year degree program in which students work together to master the global business knowledge and leadership skills needed to be successful in today's complex, globally responsive organizations. Approximately 80 percent of the academic work is accomplished online, punctuated by four custom-designed residency sessions. This class attended two-week long sessions in Chapel Hill, N.C., a one-week session at Bloomington, IN, as well as a ten-day study residency throughout Europe.
During the program's final capstone course, students demonstrated the application of their business acumen skills to real world issues by helping to improve business operations at DLA Distribution Susquehanna and Crane Army Depots.
The graduating 2015 IU-UNC LogMBA class included:
- CPT Mary K. Fullenkamp, U.S. Army
- Ms. Erin N. Gordon, LMI
- Mr. Russell A. Harris, Strategic Wealth Specialists
- Mr. Victor F. Hogan, Mercer
