The candy colored vintage cars and trucks will be sprawled throughout every square foot of the 267-acre show grounds. Entries are coming in from 31 states and 3 foreign countries. There will be cruising, major awards, hundreds of manufacturer's exhibits, live rock & roll music, vintage dragsters cackling, an automotive-themed swap meet, kids activities and more. Its motor mania and it's a perfect weekend to celebrate America's car crazy culture.
While the cars are the main course, the event is filled with other highlights and attractions. Over 300 performance automotive companies set up exhibits featuring a wide spectrum of automotive products, supplies and parts.
Like any car show in America, awards play a major role, serving as incentive for the nation's top builders. Goodguys will crown "America's Most Beautiful Street Rod" on Saturday evening, August 23rd. A national cast of hopefuls has been assembled including some of the top rods of the 2014 show circuit.
The pull of Pleasanton and the Goodguys West Coast Nationals truly is International. Hot rodder Martin Lundqvist of Stockholm, Sweden shipped his home-built 1932 Ford to Georgia and is driving across America to Pleasanton to fulfill "a lifelong dream" of attending the Goodguys event. Many others just like Lundqvist, will point their vintage cars to the quaint California town in the San Francisco Bay Area's East Bay region. For car people, Pleasanton, at least the third week in August, is truly hot rod Mecca.
