The Guitammer Company's New Patent for Live Action Broadcasts Will Bring the Thrill of Live Sporting Events Directly into Your Home
WESTERVILLE, Ohio, Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Guitammer Company's (OTCBB : GTMM) newly patented broadcast technology, "Capture and remote reproduction of haptic events in synchronous association with the video and audio capture and reproduction of those events," (United States Patent #7,911,328 B2) enables the "excitement," "impact" and "feeling" of sporting events to broadcast along with the sound and video.
Trade named, "ButtKicker LIVE!® ," this new end-to-end technology puts the viewer into the action, whether at home or at the event. For sports like football and hockey, specially designed wireless sensors can be put on one or more players and the impact they feel can become part of the broadcast allowing fans at home to feel like they are literally part of the game, live and in real-time.
"When David Baker was commissioner of the Arena Football league, the first-row seats where spectators could feel the collision of players with the boards sold out the fastest. "You were right there in the game," he said. When Westerville-based Guitammer Co. offered the league a chance to test technology .... that could translate those hits to a viewer's home, it signed up. "If you can bring that experience into someone's home, how much have you increased the value of your game?" Baker asked." from the Columbus Business First, October 21, 2011 article by Dan Eaton.
According to John Ertmann, a consultant to Guitammer and a long time sports industry executive with stints at the NY Yankees, NBC Sports and Major League Soccer, "ButtKicker Live! is a tremendous breakthrough in the evolution of broadcast sports, and sports viewership overall. It will greatly enhance the viewer's experience by putting him or her in the middle of the action, and faithfully replicating what the athletes themselves are feeling. Television sports fans are no longer satisfied with simply being passive observers. They want to participate in the event itself, and ButtKicker Live! enables that immersive experience by providing the tactile element that has been missing."
For motorsports, tri-axial wireless accelerometers attached to the vehicles enable their powerful vibrations to be broadcast, bringing the "excitement" and "power" of being track-side into the home. Taking the in-car camera to the next level, fans can now feel like they're riding along with their favorite driver.
Mark Luden, Guitammer's President, states, "This patent represents a major milestone for the company and allows us to move towards a recurring revenue model. We think this is very similar to, and the next logical step after HDTV, 3DTV, and what TiVo and Slingbox were able to accomplish with their ground-breaking changes in how consumers watch TV. And with the rise of smart TV's and the ubiquitousness of 'apps' and 'micro transactions,' we see a day in the not-so-distant future where a viewer can simply click 'yes' and experience broadcast sports in an incredibly immersive way."
ButtKicker Live!'s enabling technology is available for cable, satellite, fiber option, IPTV and "over-the-air" broadcast and has been successfully tested with several major content (sports) providers with more tests slated in the next future and rollout expected in 2012.
