CHASKA, Minn., Sept. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Goodman Group, a national leader in developing and managing senior living, health care and residential communities, has been proclaimed a Yellow Ribbon Company for its proactive support of military service members and their families. The Goodman Group is proud to be the first long term care provider and one of 47 companies in the state to be recognized for its participation in the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program, which was started by the Minnesota National Guard. The mission of Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is to provide services and support to service members, veterans, and military families.
The Yellow Ribbon certification was presented to Chairman John Goodman by Annette Kuyper, Minnesota National Guard director of military outreach and Major General Richard Nash, Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General, at the company's 50th Anniversary Awards Gala.
"We are so proud of The Goodman Group for becoming a Yellow Ribbon Company," said Kuyper. "They join other Minnesota organizations committed to supporting, honoring and recognizing service members, veterans and military families. They are helping to truly make a difference across the state of Minnesota."
The Goodman Group's mission is to establish and sustain an internal company Yellow Ribbon Network by uniting areas within the organizational structure and coordinating key areas.
On July 14, 2015, The Goodman Group took an important step in becoming a Yellow Ribbon Company by signing the Statement of Support for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The intent of this program is to increase employer support by encouraging employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military.
"We're honored to become a Yellow Ribbon Company and sign the ESGR Statement of Support, confirming our company's commitment to celebrating and honoring our team members who have served or are currently serving in the Guard and Reserve," said John Goodman. "We recognize and appreciate the values, leadership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will continue looking for opportunities to hire them."
The Goodman Group has a rich history of supporting the military and veterans. John Goodman and his father, Sidney Goodman, served in the U.S. Coast Guard Armed Forces. In 2011, John provided a donation to get Montana Big Sky Honor Flight started.
