The Goddard School in Rockville Participates in St. Jude Trike-A-Thon Fundraiser
ROCKVILLE, Md., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Preschoolers enrolled at The Goddard School at King Farm recently raised more than $1,550 toward research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases by participating in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® Trike-A-Thon fundraiser.
St. Jude partners with preschools and daycare programs to teach children safety lessons for riding bicycles, tricycles and other riding toys, while raising funds to support the hospital's mission. The Goddard School at King Farm has raised nearly $10,000 for the charity since it first introduced the program to its students four years ago.
"The Trike-A-Thon program teaches students very important lessons about being safe while participating in activities that keep them physically healthy," said Linda Wu, Academic Director of The Goddard School at King Farm. "They also learn about helping others, another important lesson that we emphasize in our instruction."
After spending a fun-filled week learning how to ride safely, Goddard School children brought their trikes and riding toys to school on July 23 to practice the rules they learned. Family and friends sponsored participants by pledging an amount per lap the children rode or making a one-time donation.
Located at 900 Gaither Road in Rockville, The Goddard School provides high quality educational programs designed to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of children ages six months to six years. In addition to the strong emphasis on foreign language and cultures, the school's play-based curriculum provides children with access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as sign language, art history, music appreciation and manners.
