"Europe has always been an important market for us," says Jurgen Himmelmann, CEO of The Global Work & Travel Co. "But it's only recently that we've been really able to focus and give the market proper attention. The response has been beyond expectations."
"Last year, we serviced close to 10,000 youth travellers internationally. Our goal is to double that in the next three years, and the European market is a key component to that growth strategy," says Himmelmann.
"We started 2015 with a small facility here in London, basically as a satellite to our larger Vancouver and Australian offices. But over the past four months, bookings have continued to grow, and we're adding more and more people just to service that demand."
Global has office space on John Prince's Street off Oxford Circus in London, but due to the increase in demand, hasn't ruled out either moving locations or opening a satellite office in another location in or around London.
"We'll manage, but we're getting pretty squeezed as it is," said Himmelmann. "Don't get me wrong – it's a great problem to have, but I'm pretty sure my staff are going to lead a revolt if we start implementing double-decker desks or having them share chairs!"
Global has offices in London, Surfers Paradise, Australia, and Vancouver, Canada. The Global Work & Travel Co. is one of the world's largest 'working holiday' or 'gap-year' travel brands, specializing in young travelers who want an enriching experience in country.
