WASHINGTON, Jan. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Global Good Fund, a social enterprise accelerating the leadership development of high-potential social entrepreneurs tackling the world's greatest challenges, has announced the fifth annual selection of 2017 Global Good Fund Fellows.
Increasing its 2016 support of The Global Good Fund Fellowship, this year Johnson & Johnson will sponsor three Fellows who are innovating to solve healthcare challenges.
The Global Good Fund undertook an extensive search, surpassing previous records to attract over 2,400 applicants from around the world for twelve 2017 Fellowship positions. Following a rigorous five-stage selection process, the selected Global Good Fund Fellows will embark on a structured 15-month journey of experiential learning to boost their leadership skills, enabling personal growth, enterprise growth, and social impact.
"When The Global Good Fund began our mission five years ago, we could only dream of reaching this milestone. We are especially honored by the continued support of Johnson & Johnson, a world leader in health care," said Carrie Rich, Co-Founder and CEO of The Global Good Fund, whose own journey to becoming a social entrepreneur began in health care.
Lauren Moore, Vice President of Global Community Impact for Johnson & Johnson said, "We are thrilled to partner with The Global Good Fund to support and foster the development of innovative social entrepreneurs. At Johnson & Johnson, we recognize their role and contributions to innovating new solutions for improving human health around the world."
The diverse 2017 cohort is comprised of seven women and five men representing nine nationalities who are working to solve complex social problems in six different sectors. They are already driving social change on every continent, with about 75% of their collective impact outside the U.S. This international group will unite for the first time in-person in Washington, DC during The Global Good Fund Annual Summit April 4 – 8, 2017, and will be celebrated on April 6th at the Fund's Annual Gala.
