The Get Grounded Foundation Announces Call for Spring 2017 Nonprofit Grant Applications
Nonprofits focused on child abuse and neglect, youth behavioral health or childhood hunger relief in the Denver Metro area encouraged to apply
DENVER, March 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Get Grounded Foundation announced today a call for Spring 2017 grant applications by Denver-area nonprofits serving at-risk youth. Created in 2015 as the primary charitable giving arm of GroundFloor Media and its sister agency CenterTable, the 501(c)(3) provides one-year grants for entrepreneurial programs within an existing nonprofit that directly support the healthy development of at-risk or neglected youth between the ages of 3 and 13 in Denver.
Since its inception two years ago, The Get Grounded Foundation has awarded approximately $50,000 to a wide range of local organizations including the Autism Society of Colorado, Child Advocates – Denver CASA, the Denver Indian Family Resource Center, the ECDC – African Community Center of Denver, Mount Saint Vincent, PlatteForum, the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center, Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters Colorado, Tennyson Center for Children and Zuma's Rescue Ranch. The grant recipients were selected for their efforts in getting a new or expanded innovative program (or new method/approach) off the "ground floor" in the area of child abuse and neglect, youth behavioral health or childhood hunger relief.
Past programs receiving funding have included:
- The launch of a new, trauma-informed yoga program at Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center for children ages 5-18 who have experienced abuse or neglect
- Funding for the African Community Center of Denver's mentor/mentee program for refugee youth ages 11-13 who are entering middle school and facing issues such as bullying, suicide, gang activity, homelessness, malnutrition and substance abuse
- Support for Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters Colorado's nutrition and food skills program for teen parents of young children designed to teach these parents best practices for achieving optimal emotional and nutritional development of their children
To apply for grant funding, visit the Get Grounded Foundation website at http://www.groundfloormedia.com/foundation. The deadline for submitting grant applications is 5:00 p.m. MT on Friday, April 21, 2017.
