The Get Grounded Foundation Announces Call for Fall 2016 Grant Applications
Nonprofits focused on child abuse and neglect, youth behavioral health or childhood hunger relief in the Denver Metro area encouraged to apply
DENVER, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Get Grounded Foundation announced today a call for Fall 2016 grant applications by Denver-area nonprofits serving at-risk youth. Created in 2015 as the primary charitable giving arm of GroundFloor Media and its sister agency CenterTable, the 501(c)(3) provides one-year grants for entrepreneurial programs within an existing nonprofit that directly support the healthy development of at-risk or neglected youth between the ages of 3 and 13 in Denver.
Since its inception a year ago, The Get Grounded Foundation has awarded nearly $30,000 to seven organizations including the Tennyson Center for Children, PlatteForum, Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center, the Denver Indian Family Resources Center, Mount Saint Vincent, the Autism Society of Colorado and Zuma's Rescue Ranch. The recipients were selected for their efforts in getting a new or expanded innovative program (or new method/approach) off the "ground floor" in the area of child abuse and neglect, youth behavioral health or childhood hunger relief.
Past programs receving funding have included:
- The launch of a new animal-assisted therapy program for children who have survived severe abuse or neglect, or have significant mental health or developmental issues
- The launch of a "Latino Connections" program designed to provide additional education and access to Latinos, Hispanics and Spanish-speaking families with children who have been diagnosed with autism in the Denver area
- Funding for children living in group homes to participate in a therapeutic summer camp with rescued horses
To apply for grant funding, visit the Get Grounded Foundation website at http://www.groundfloormedia.com/foundation. The deadline for submitting grant applications is 5:00 p.m. MT on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016. A volunteer committee made up of individuals from GroundFloor Media and the Colorado foundation community will review all grant applications. Recipients will be announced in mid-November.
