The Fourth Cambridge College Leadership Speaker Series Hosts Pulitzer Prize Winning Author, Junot Díaz
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing Leadership Speaker Series, The Office of the President of Cambridge College, in partnership with Eastern Bank and the Marketing Science Institute, welcomes Pulitzer Prize winning author and MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship recipient, Junot Díaz.
The fourth Cambridge College Leadership Speaker Series will take place on Monday, November 10th at Cambridge College located at 1000 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, MA, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Introduced in 2013, the Cambridge College Leadership Speaker Series invites scholars, business leaders, authors, and other transformative leaders to share their experience, diverse opinions and insights on a broad scope of topics. The series is designed to enrich the social, educational and cultural experience of the College's students and the greater community at large by offering opportunities to hear from experts in politics, science and technology, social justice and global affairs.
The critically acclaimed New York Times bestselling author, Junot Díaz will join the ranks of prior speakers in the series, including Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, U.S. Attorney General Carmen Ortiz, and retired U.S. Senator Maurice "Mo" Cowan. Díaz was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New Jersey. He is the author of the critically acclaimed Drown; The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, which won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award; and This Is How You Lose Her, a New York Times bestseller and National Book Award finalist. He is the recipient of the MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship, PEN/Malamud Award, Dayton Literary Peace Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, and PEN/O'Henry Award. A graduate of Rutgers College, Díaz is currently the fiction editor at Boston Review and the Rudge and Nancy Allen Professor of Writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
