The Flora-Bama® Lounge, Package & Oyster Bar Celebrates Grand Re-Opening
PENSACOLA, Fla., April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- April 2012 will be an unprecedented month for the Flora-Bama as this famous "Last Great American Roadhouse" on the Florida/Alabama state line has completed renovations to this 48-year old Gulf Coast lounge. Restorations to this iconic establishment include rebuilding the original Main Room previously destroyed by Hurricane Ivan.
Re-opening this very special part of the Flora-Bama and celebrating its rebirth is an important part of local history and brings back a piece of the fabric of the Gulf Coast community. "I am honored and humbled to be a part of the ownership group helping to restore the Flora-Bama," says John McInnis, who became one of the owners over the last few years. McInnis continues, "I feel more like a caretaker than an owner helping carry the Flora-Bama through the next 48 years and beyond."
In celebration of this restoration, the Flora-Bama will celebrate the entire month of April featuring live music on three stages from past and current Flora-Bama players and characters, month long food and drink specials, giveaways, special events and one helluva a party on the line.
A cast of Flora-Bama characters and musicians will fill all three live music stages throughout the entire month of April. "Since I took over in April of 1978, live music, singers and songwriters have been an important part of the magic of the Flora-Bama," says Flora-Bama Owner and President Joe Gilchrist. Gilchrist says, "This grand Re-Opening is a great opportunity to celebrate our current players and reintroduce players from the past."
Other key events include the Grand Re-Opening Songwriters Showcase, March 30-April 1, 2012 featuring live music on all three stages including special sets by Ken Lambert (the first musician to ever play at the Flora-Bama) and the Flora-Bama Anniversary Party on April 17, 2012.
All events are open to the public with the Flora-Bama opening daily at 11am.
