Tim Geithner, Jason Furman, Olivier Blanchard and More to Examine the Changing Role of the State in Finance Around the World
NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Economist Events announced today that it will hold its sixth annual Buttonwood Gathering on February 10th 2015 in New York City. This year's event will take place at 10 on the Park at the Time Warner Center in New York City and will focus on the future of finance and global economic growth.
The full-day conference will bring together leaders in finance, economics, business, academia and government to examine the changing role of the state in finance. From public-private partnerships to tax reform, the conference will address how countries and companies can effectively balance government and growth.
"Ever since the financial crisis we have seen regulators and the governments get more involved in the economy. This year's gathering will tackle what the role of the state should be in finance and business today," said Philip Coggan, Buttonwood columnist and capital markets editor at The Economist. "What makes The Buttonwood Gathering so interesting is that it brings together a melting pot of thinkers to address big questions about today's global economy."
Internationally renowned experts from across the globe will debate the most pressing questions facing the global economy, including whether or not growth has plateaued in the developing world, the benefits and drawbacks of privitisation, the economic implications of escalating violence and political conflict and more. From financial regulation to the rapidly changing economic landscape, The Buttonwood Gathering will examine the issues that matter most to investors today.
