The Dump, America's Number-One Furniture Outlet, Opens Today in Lombard, Ill.
Ribbon-cutting ceremony kicks off opening as The Dump brings deeply discounted brand-name home furnishings to Chicagoland
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Aug. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dump, America's number-one furniture outlet featuring famous-name furniture at dramatic discounts, today officially opened the doors of its new location in Lombard, Ill. A massive 134,000-square-feet, The Dump is the largest high-end furniture outlet in the Chicago marketplace and marks the 11th location for the company as it continues its nationwide expansion.
The Dump, located at S. Highland Ave. and Butterfield Road in the former Great Indoors space, kicked off the Labor Day weekend with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30am. This was followed by musical acts including Jon Conover, Nicholas Barron, Pullman Drive and Wes Jon. The Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry was also in attendance to welcome The Dump, which will employ 250 people in its Lombard store as well as its new warehouse in Addison, Ill.
"Today marks the beginning of an entirely new furniture shopping experience for the Chicago marketplace," said E.J. Strelitz, President and CEO of The Dump. "At The Dump, we are able to consistently deliver massive savings on the best furniture, mattresses and rugs as a result of our unique retail business model. Unlike traditional retail, The Dump is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week, which allows us to replenish our stock with completely new inventory during the rest of the week. We are also able to keep our overhead lower by closing the store during the traditionally slower period of the week and pass those savings onto the consumer."
"The Dump's approach to buying furnishings supports our overall consumer value proposition," said Randi Strelitz, Executive Vice President of The Dump. "Our merchandising team is passionately focused on securing all brand-new, top-quality merchandise at highly discounted prices from a variety of sources, including overstocks, one-of-a-kinds, factory sell-outs, showroom models, and design prototypes. This approach ensures the best prices as well as the most creative mix of merchandise in the marketplace."
