"The duck boat accident that occurred in Missouri last evening was a tragedy which could have been avoided"--- Ronai & Ronai, LLP, the attorneys that represented the families of the two children killed in the "Ride The Ducks" accident in Philadelphia in 2010
NEW YORK, July 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Another duck boat accident occurred last evening in Missouri where eleven people are already reported dead and six still missing. The boat apparently capsized in a storm with very high winds. All the other duck boats in the Lake had docked earlier. It is unknown at this time why the captain of the capsized duck boat did not dock as well.
Unfortunately, it seems that the Ride the Ducks company did not learn a lesson from the prior lawsuits involving deaths that occurred on their duck boats, including, but not limited to the 2010 incident that occurred in Philadelphia, where two Hungarian children drowned to death.
Holly Ostrov Ronai, Esq. stated that, "The company has a long track record of not taking proper precautions and taking risks that they clearly should not have. These 'duck boats' are antiquated and inherently unsafe and unequipped to handle any issues that may occur in open or large bodies of waters. The incident which occurred last night in Missouri could certainly have been avoided."
Peter Ronai, Esq. added that, "No boats, especially of this type, should have been out on a body of water in that extreme weather or impending extreme weather. All other boats had been docked prior to the extreme winds and precipitation and the capsized boat should have also been docked. A full investigation will be done in this regard."
"Missouri has been having extreme weather of late, including tornadoes. Passengers on the Duck Boat trusted this company to make proper decisions about safety and whether or not to go out on the water. Sadly, the company put profits before people," Holly Ostrov Ronai, Esq. further added.
We offer our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims.
