The Detroit Branch NAACP is prepared to Protect the Vote
DETROIT, Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Detroit Branch NAACP in its commitment to voter education, mobilization and protection is prepared to protect the vote for the upcoming Presidential Election that will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. In preparation for Election Day the Detroit Branch has taken the following measures:
- Detroit Branch NAACP Voter Hotline. The voter hotline (313-664-2424) is set up to assist voters with questions about where to vote and to report any signs of voter intimidation or suppression. The voter hotline will be open on Monday, November 5 from 1:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. and on Election Day from 7:00 A.M. till 9:00 P.M.
- The Detroit Branch NAACP will have challengers and observers at the top 100 polling places in Detroit to ensure that voters are not intimidated at the polls.
- A core of attorneys will be on-site at the Detroit Branch to investigate any claims of voter intimidation or suppression.
- Online tools such as the Detroit Branch NAACP's ABC's of Voting and Voter Guide to help educate and inform voters before they enter the voting booth are available at www.detroitnaacp.org.

We are extremely pleased that a legal team from the US Department of Justice Voting Rights section in Washington, DC, and the US Attorneys' Office in Detroit will be monitoring polls in the Detroit area to ensure that voters will be able to cast their ballots free from intimidation."
