The Delaware Valley Celebrates Multiculturalism and Diversity with AARP
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Diversity will once again take center stage at the 2012 AARP Multicultural Festival, being held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. The event is being sponsored by the AARP Pennsylvania state office and will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Multicultural Festival is a celebration of the diversity and community life that is found throughout the Delaware Valley. This annual event brings together local residents and guests to celebrate a rich medley of cultures within the African American, Asian, and Hispanic-Latino communities.
"AARP is proud to be an association of relevance to America's growing 50+ multicultural populations," says Jim Palmquist, AARP Pennsylvania State President. Guests are encouraged to dress in attire from their own cultural roots and take part in AARP Pennsylvania's 25 year anniversary. In honor of the AARP state office anniversary, guests will receive exclusive access to "The American Experience," a self-guided exhibition at the National Constitution Center that tells the extraordinary story of our American heritage. "Our work reaches deep into member communities through support from dedicated volunteers and staff," adds Palmquist.
The festivities continue with main stage performances from renowned talent such as Latin Fiesta, The Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra, as well as local dance performances from the Korean Dance Company and the Mutya Dance Company. MCs for the evening include Claudia Gomez, Fox 29; DC Todd, WRNB; and Diego Castellanos, host of 6 ABC's Puerto Rican Panorama.
