- 1.5 million Brits have had an accident this year as a result of outdated corrective lenses
- One in three specs wearers aren't sure if their current prescription is correct
- 42 per cent of people regularly go without wearing their specs
- Nearly half of Brits experience eye strain on a regular basis
- Take advantage of LensWay's Leap Year Joseph Marc glasses promotion
A recent survey by LensWay, the online optical store, has revealed the dangers of not wearing an up-to-date prescription. The research found that 1.5 million have suffered accidents as a result of insufficiently corrective eyewear, as more than one in three people are wearing the wrong prescription.
Unsurprisingly, almost half of those who require corrective lenses have experienced eye strain, a problem that is particularly acute in the work place where computer screens and smartphones abound. Ironically, of the 1,146* people polled, 69 per cent regard perfect vision as being vital for their job.
This represents a significant number of individuals who are at risk at home, work and during their commute. Despite this, 42 per cent admit to regularly not wearing their corrective lenses. Many of these cite an out-of-date prescription as their reason; over a third of respondents doubted the accuracy of their lenses given the elapsed time between eye-tests.
Aaron Magness, a spokesperson for LensWay commented: "It's quite alarming to see that people aren't sure if their prescription is right. Life without perfect vision is unthinkable for most of us, so it should be routine for people to regularly check their prescriptions…"
On the 29th February, LensWay will be offering a Leap Year promotion with all Joseph Marc frames marked down to £29, including the stylish Joseph Marc 4010 model and the ever popular 4024 Gunmetal frames.
The 29th will also be a last chance to take advantage of the Most Loved Frames campaign, with £30 off selected frames purchased with a lens upgrade.
Magness continues: "Contacts and glasses are more affordable than ever, so there's no excuse for sticking with an outdated prescription".
