Conference will highlight the crucial need to work together to end heinous crimes against women
DALLAS, May 1, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Tony Porter, Chief Executive Officer of A Call to Men, and Kimya Motley, Chief Communications Officer of A Call to Men, will headline the 19th annual Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW) as keynote speakers in Dallas, Texas from May 20-23, 2024. A Call to Men works to transform society by promoting healthy, respectful manhood and helping create a world where all women, girls, and those at the margins are valued and safe. Porter and Motley will present during CCAW's Opening Plenary on Monday, May 20 at 8:00 a.m. CT.
One in three women will be abused in their lifetime, and intimate partner violence alone affects more than 12 million people every year. Crime and violence against women is a devastating epidemic, and there is a crucial need for a coordinated community response. The interactive keynote will shed light on how men's socialization and silence unintentionally support those who continue to perpetrate acts of violence against women. It will also challenge and redefine men's role as bystanders before, during, and after incidents of domestic violence and sexual assault.
"We will never succeed in our fight to end violence against women if we do not address the crucial need to work together and speak out," said Jan Langbein, Chief Executive Officer of CCAW and Genesis Women's Shelter & Support. "We are extremely honored to have Tony Porter and Kimya Motley as our keynote speakers, and we are looking forward to learning from them as they share their stories and expertise on how we can continue to combat crimes against women."

About the Conference on Crimes Against Women:
The goal of the Conference on Crimes Against Women is to create an overall reduction in the rate of crimes against women and, ultimately, eliminate violence against women. It is also, however, a primary part of our mission to improve the way crimes against women are investigated and prosecuted, as well as to improve the way victims are treated throughout the criminal justice system. The problem of domestic violence is so pervasive and at such epidemic proportions that tangible decreases in the rate of violence against women will not be seen until huge volumes of women are safer in their homes. This volume happens through culture shifts, and conferences like CCAW create the momentum and the network for that very culture shift. For additional information about the Conference, please visit www.conferencecaw.org.
