The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for Mexico Declined
NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for Mexico declined 1.5 percent in August to 98.5 (2010 = 100), following a 1.1 percent decline in July, and a 0.8 percent decline in June.
At the same time, The Conference Board Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for Mexico, a measure of current economic activity, increased 0.3 percent in August to 116.7 (2010 = 100), following a 0.3 percent increase in July, and a 0.3 percent increase in June.
The LEI for Mexico fell sharply again in August, its fifth consecutive monthly decline. The weaknesses among its components have also become widespread. As a result, the six-month change in the LEI remains negative, although the rate of decline is not as steep as in the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, the six-month growth rate of the CEI remains relatively steady. The LEI for Mexico continues on a downward trend, suggesting that Mexico's economic activity is unlikely to improve this year.
About The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for Mexico
The composite economic indexes are the key elements in an analytic system designed to signal peaks and troughs in the business cycle. The leading and coincident economic indexes are essentially composite averages of several individual leading or coincident indicators. They are constructed to summarize and reveal common turning point patterns in economic data in a clearer and more convincing manner than any individual component – primarily because they smooth out some of the volatility of individual components.

Industrial Production, Construction Component

U.S. Refiners' Acquisition Cost of Domestic and Imported Crude Oil
