The Cloudburst Group Appoints Ajay Vatave, MD, MPH, as Director, Center for Public Health

LANDOVER, Md., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cloudburst Group today announced that Dr. Ajay Vatave, an industry leader in public health research, planning, and technical assistance, has joined the firm as Director of its Center for Public Health. In this position, Vatave will manage Cloudburst's Atlanta office and will be responsible for managing and driving the firm's growing business in health communications, program planning and technical assistance services.

Ajay Vatave, M.D., M.P.H., has over 10 years of clinical and public health experience working in international, Federal, State and Local settings.  He has worked extensively with underserved populations throughout his career, with a topical focus in infectious disease, minority health issues and rare genetic disorders. Dr. Vatave has also developed topical expertise in broader issues within the environmental health arena, including public health consequences of climate change and the interaction between the built environment and wellness. He has extensive experience and training in quantitative data collection and assessment, strategic planning, and technical assistance.  Dr. Vatave has been a member or chair of a number of expert panels and has served as an official grants reviewer for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Dr. Vatave also served a detail in the Coordinating Center for Global Health (COGH), Office of the Director, where he assisted in the development of strategic "Partnership Mapping" systems and helped to facilitate activities related to the development of Global Health Goals. Dr. Vatave also served as CDC's Special Advisor to the Director at the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH)/ Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR).  

Dr. Vatave received his M.D. from Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College, Pune India, with additional training at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine; he received a Masters of Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
