The Children's Place Works with Runzheimer International to Cut Business Vehicle Program Costs and Reduce Management Time
Embracing Employee Mobility Best Practices Enables Children's Apparel Retailer To Increase Employee Productivity, Reduce Costs and Focus on Revenue-Generation
WATERFORD, Wis., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Working with Runzheimer International, the industry leader in employee mobility programs, The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. has embraced employee mobility best practices to reduce its business vehicle program costs. The leading specialty retailer of children's apparel used Runzheimer International's services and technology to develop a new approach to business vehicle management that reimburses drivers more fairly, improves process with fewer resources and saves employee time.
The Children's Place is located in Secaucus, NJ and has 21,000 employees supporting more than 950 retail locations across North America. Providing fair reimbursement for their 110 field employees, who drive a significant amount to reach stores across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico in a more efficient manner, was a top priority for the company. The company's former automobile fleet program required full coverage of all vehicle gasoline, maintenance and insurance expenses and the resources of a full-time employee at headquarters to manage the program. The significant hours to oversee the program included manual monthly management of invoices, payment and insurance compliance as well as extensive employee support.
"As we looked for opportunities to improve efficiency and support growth, an overhaul of our business vehicle program was an obvious choice," said Diana Monaco, senior compensation manager at The Children's Place. "Runzheimer International helped us significantly reduce our vehicle-related expenses per employee as well as our program management time. Because of the flexible and fair structure of the program, we also increased employee satisfaction."
To improve employee satisfaction, The Children's Place worked closely with the Runzheimer International team on an internal communication plan, which focused on two key issues. First, employees are more fairly reimbursed because the program is based on the regional location of where the employee lives and works. Second, the program saves time for the workforce, so these employees have more time to focus on revenue generation and spend less time managing their vehicles.
"A business vehicle program often supports revenue-generating employees, so a strategy that integrates driver buy-in, cost management and program efficiency is critical," said Greg Harper, president of Runzheimer International. "As the new economy has emerged, more companies are taking the path of The Children's Place and implementing best practices that offer both cost benefits and support of employee needs."
