The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Opens New Specialty Care Center in Plainsboro
New Center Brings Additional Services to Local Families
PLAINSBORO, N.J., April 28, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) today celebrated the grand opening of a 25,000-square-foot Specialty Care Center on the campus of the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, with a ribbon cutting and open house. Located at the intersection of Route 1 and Plainsboro Road, the new Center replaces the former specialty care center located on nearby Alexander Road in Princeton.
All of the existing specialties and services have relocated to the Plainsboro site. The new facility also offers new services and amenities including physical therapy, occupational therapy and rehab gyms, speech therapy, auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing, and diagnostic X-ray services. The Specialty Care Center Princeton at Plainsboro is one of more than 50 CHOP Care Network locations in New Jersey, Philadelphia and the surrounding counties offering top-ranked primary and specialty care services to families close to home.
The space provides an additional 15,000 square feet, with the ability to expand to 100,000 square feet to allow for future program growth.
"We are excited to open this new state-of-the-art specialty care center on the Princeton at Plainsboro campus," said Madeline Bell, CHOP president and chief operating officer. "This facility will allow us to better serve the needs of the local community and ensure families have access to the highest level of specialty pediatric care close to home."
Since July 2009, CHOP has provided care for newborns, children and adolescents at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro through CHOP Newborn & Pediatric Care at UMCPP. CHOP physicians are on site 24/7, including a board-certified neonatologist to attend high-risk deliveries and provide care to newborns, and pediatric hospitalists who are available to consult on pediatric cases in the Emergency Center and care for patients in the inpatient pediatric unit.
