The Chairman of TCL Corporation Advises China's Top Legislative Body to Improve Global Competiveness of Chinese Industries
BEIJING, March 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- With the opening of annual plenary sessions of National People's Congress (NPC) and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) last week in Beijing, China has entered the most important two weeks of its political calendar for 2015. The sessions, attended by thousands of delegates, have various issues discussed during the time, including the country's economic reforms and development targets.
Tomson Li Dongsheng, Chairman & CEO of TCL Corporation and a delegate of the NPC, addressed a topic of major economic concern to the country's top legislative body, proposing the improvement of the global competitiveness of Chinese industries. Based on the management experience of TCL Corporation, a Chinese multinational electronics giant and globally leading electronics group, Li Dongsheng's proposal is in line with the economic guidance outlined by the Chinese president to "comprehensively deepen reform", which is a key component of the "Four Comprehensives" national strategic blueprint of China.
Mr. Li, who has served as a delegate of the NPC for three successive years, said the proposal he made this year is based on the premise that the competitiveness of Chinese industries forms the foundation of the country's economic prowess. To nurture and build a meaningful number of world-class Chinese enterprises to drive the global economy, Li suggested the Chinese government to channel more investment into key industry sectors and fully support the globalization of Chinese enterprises, which, in turn, could enable Chinese enterprises to apply more market-oriented approaches of capital raising as well as enhance their industrial output capacity in the global market.
The proposal shed a new light on the globalization strategy which plays an increasingly important role in the development of Chinese multinational corporations such as TCL Corporation, whose overseas sales revenue reached $7.4 billion in 2014 and is expected to further increase by 25% in 2015.
Also at the opening session of the NPC, Chinese Premier announced an "Internet Plus" national action plan in the national government's annual report, advocating for the integration of mobile internet, cloud computing, big data with modern manufacturing in China. Though debuted as a national action plan of China, the "Internet Plus" strategy is not something new in the Chinese internet-based industries. According to Mr. Li, who put forward the "Internet Plus Intelligent" strategy along with the "Product Plus Service" business model a year earlier, TCL Corporation has already benefited from its own corporate version of "Internet Plus" strategy by building a smart home for people around the globe, which achieved a 46.73% increase in net profit in 2014.
