SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) has awarded Angel MedFlight's Director of Clinical Services, Bambi Pish-Derr, DNP, RN, CCRN, CFRN, The Distinguished CFRN Award for 2017. The Distinguished CFRN Award is presented annually by BCEN and the Air and Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA) and it recognizes a CFRN or CTRN who has shown outstanding support of the certification process in flight or critical care ground transport nursing.
"Receiving the Distinguished CFRN Award is humbling but this award is something I see more as a team achievement. It reflects the efforts of our entire team and the dedication and hard work by every one of our flight paramedics and nurses," said Pish-Derr.
"This recognition also shows how critically important patient care is in the air ambulance industry. We set a goal of ensuring that all of our clinicians carried advanced certifications and I'm proud to report that we've achieved that."
As Director of Clinical Services, Bambi works with the nurse and paramedic teams, the medical directors, dispatch and flight coordination to ensure Angel MedFlight's patients receive the world-class care that they deserve. Bambi's devotion for working alongside a dedicated group of professionals has helped build a team that is capable of providing extraordinary quality services to high-acuity patients through innovation, education, and disciplined provision of care.
Before joining Angel MedFlight, Bambi worked in Texas and Arizona in various nursing roles specializing in critical care, education, and leadership. Bambi is a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve holding the rank of Commander where she works as the Regional Detachment Director for EMF Dallas One.
Bambi holds a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, a Master's degree in nursing leadership from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, a Post-Masters Certificate in Health Care Administration and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University. Bambi is certified in Critical Care and Flight Nursing (CCRN/CFRN). She is married with five children.
"Whether it be in a leadership position on our management team, with our clinicians on the road or educating associates in our office, Bambi is a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who measures herself by the compassion and development of those around her," said Jason Siegert, CEO of Angel MedFlight. "This award highlights what we all already knew – she's an amazing flight nurse and leader."
Astronaut Mark Kelly, a member of Angel MedFlight's Board of Directors, had a similar glowing review. "Bambi has done a fantastic job leading Clinical Services. She's a career student and is always looking to make those around her better," Kelly said.
