The Bayat Foundation Donates Emergency Relief Funds To Afghans Affected By Massive Avalanches In Panjshir Province
Afghan Wireless Communications Company Deploys Mobile Network Units To Facilitate Communication In Affected Area
KABUL, Afghanistan, March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bayat Foundation, led by entrepreneur and philanthropist Ehsanollah Bayat, donated the equivalent of US$100,000 in immediate cash assistance to help needy Afghans affected by a massive avalanche in a mountainous valley in Panjshir Province, located approximately 60 miles from Kabul.
"Our hearts are with victims of the avalanche tragedy and the many Afghans in desperate need of immediate assistance in Panjshir Province," said Ehsan Bayat, founder of the Bayat Foundation. In addition to the Bayat Foundation's contributions, Mr. Bayat's mobile telephony operation – Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) – deployed mobile base stations and other emergency networking equipment to help provide better communication between the remote villages and districts in Panjshir Province that are suffering from roads blocked by heavy snow the possibility of subsequent avalanches.
